Network Segmentation for Growing Companies
A flat network lets one infected laptop reach everything. Segmentation limits the damage.
In many small offices every device sits on the same network: staff laptops, printers, guest phones, security cameras and the file server. If one is compromised, all are within reach.
Separate by purpose
Create distinct segments for staff devices, servers, guests, and "internet of things" equipment such as cameras and smart displays. Guests should never be able to see internal systems.
Control what crosses the lines
Between segments, allow only the traffic that is genuinely needed. Staff may need to reach the file server; the printer does not need to reach the internet.
